What is the seal of God?

There are many explanations that are floating out there about what the “seal of God” is. There are those who say that the “Sabbath” is the “seal of God” among many others. But the Holy Spirit led me to believe, that the “seal of God” is the “truth”. Let me explain.

The Spirit Is Truth

Ephesians 1:13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

According to the verse above, believers are sealed with the “Holy Spirit”. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is the seal, right? But how can we know for sure that we have been sealed by the Holy Spirit? How can we recognize the Holy Spirit?

Now, the Holy Spirit is sometimes referred to as the “Spirit” in the Bible. The following verse tells us that the Spirit is truth.

1 John 5:6 This is the one who came by water and blood–Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

So, by understanding and believing the truth which is the Word of God, you are given the Spirit. When you understand the truth, lies cannot enter your heart anymore. Therefore you are sealed. That is why the seal of God is the truth.

For example, if you know the truth, you will no longer wait for the light to come because you already know and believe that Jesus Christ is the light and he came 2,000 years ago. Therefore, nobody can tell you that the light is still coming or he is here now in the world because that would be a lie.

Anointing From The Truth

When you understand the truth, that is your anointing also. So, the truth is both a seal and an anointing.

1 John 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.

And the Word, the Spirit, and the truth are all pointing to the Lord Jesus Christ as the light. I wrote a separate blog about why Jesus Christ is the truth. Click here to read it.

The Spirit Of Truth is The Holy Spirit

Jesus Christ said he will send us a helper and a comforter, the Spirit of truth.

John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

From the verse above, I get that the believers will not receive the full Spirit right away. But when the Spirit of truth comes, it will guide the believers’ understanding to know more truth. We might not fully get the anointing and seal as believers until the spirit of truth comes.

John 14:17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.

So we need to discern and test every spirit continually so that when the Spirit of truth comes, we understand what it is.

The 144,000 On Mount Zion

The 144,000 Israelites will also receive God’s seal. The 144,000 Israelites will wake up to the truth and will live in the Spirit.

Revelation 7:4 Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

When the 144,000 Israelites receive the seal of God, they will know and believe the truth. They will ascend on Mount Zion, the City of Truth.

Zechariah 8:3 “Thus says the LORD: ‘I will return to Zion, And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, The Mountain of the LORD of hosts, The Holy Mountain.’”

I wrote a separate blog about the 144,000 Israelites. You can read it here.

Conclusion

When you understand and believe the Gospel Of Truth, then you are sealed by God’s Spirit. The truth is the seal of God. The spirit of truth is the Holy Spirit. Since we have God’s Spirit and we all know the truth, we let our light shine. Jesus Christ is the light. In him can be found the truth of God.

May God bless you all!
