Have you ever wondered what the prophet Daniel meant when he spoke of the daily sacrifice, the rebellion, the sanctuary, and the host? These terms are more than just symbolic—they carry deep spiritual significance, especially for those discerning the times we are now living in. The Book of Daniel offers prophetic insight that aligns closely with the final chapters of human history, unveiling hidden truths about the spiritual battles unfolding behind the veil.
Join me as I share what the Lord of Hosts has revealed to me regarding these powerful and prophetic elements. This understanding is not based on the literal but on spiritual discernment, for the kingdom of God is not of this world—it operates in the spirit.
Let us begin with the foundational prophecy that brings these elements together:
Daniel 8:13 – “Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, ‘How long until the fulfillment of the vision of the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, and the surrender of the sanctuary and of the host to be trampled?’”
The Daily Sacrifice: Spiritual Offerings of the Elect
Daniel’s reference to the “daily sacrifice” is not about animals or physical rituals. Instead, it points to the continual spiritual offering made by God’s elect—those who walk in the sufferings of Christ. This is the spiritual blood of the Lamb, poured out daily by His priests on earth.
Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 1:5, “For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.” These “sufferings” are not random hardships; they are sacred sacrifices—daily expressions of obedience, endurance, and spiritual warfare. The Elect are God’s holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable through Christ, just as 1 Peter 2:5 declares.
In the last days, while the “little horn” rises to power, the 144,000 Israelites will also stand on Mount Zion with the Lamb, as revealed in Revelation 14:1. These chosen ones will serve as priests of God and carry out the daily sacrifice—not with animals, but through their suffering and witness.
However, the little horn will not tolerate this offering. Scripture reveals that this rebellion will result in the daily sacrifice being “taken away.” Daniel 8:12 states, “Because of rebellion, the LORD’s people and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground.”
In other words, the enemy will suppress the spiritual light offered by the saints, attempting to snuff out their testimony.
The Rebellion: The Rise of Witchcraft and False Worship
God seeks worshippers who worship Him in spirit and in truth, as Jesus proclaimed in John 4:23. But rebellion always rises in opposition to this call. And what is rebellion, spiritually speaking? It is the sin of witchcraft, as 1 Samuel 15:23 says: “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.”
This rebellion will intensify in the end times when the little horn—empowered by the beast—actively resists the kingdom of God. As the saints reign on Mount Zion, the forces of darkness will gather under Lucifer, the false messiah. 2 Thessalonians 2:3–4 paints the picture clearly: “The rebellion must come first, and the man of lawlessness—the son of destruction—will be revealed. He will oppose and exalt himself above every so-called god.”
Lucifer will sit in the spiritual temple and proclaim himself to be god. This is the rebellion Daniel foresaw. It is not merely a political insurrection—it is a full-blown spiritual war against truth.
The Host: The Vessel of Spirits
The term “host” in Daniel’s prophecy refers to more than just an army—it signifies a spiritual vessel. God, as the Lord of Hosts, gathers spirits into His chosen vessels, making them kings and priests who operate in the realm of Zion.
When a person becomes a host, he enters the spiritual dimension and functions as a living temple—a place where spirits of the righteous gather. Yet, this holy role can be corrupted.
The little horn religion will target the hosts on Mount Zion, especially the Elect who serve God as spiritual fortresses. Daniel 11:31 says, “His forces will desecrate the temple fortress and abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation.”
Lucifer, the king of Babylon, will eventually take over the host—seizing spiritual control through deception and pride. As Habakkuk 2:5 prophesied, this man “gathers to himself all nations and heaps up for himself all peoples.” Once the host is hijacked, the little horn religion will wield global spiritual authority.
This act of usurpation paves the way for the rise of the “mark of the beast,” which signifies a spiritual exaltation of the false christ. As revealed in Daniel 11:36–37, this counterfeit messiah will compel humanity to worship him under the threat of death.
The Sanctuary: Judah and Mount Zion
Daniel also spoke of the sanctuary being overthrown. But what is the sanctuary? Psalm 114:2 answers this clearly: “Judah was His sanctuary, and Israel His dominion.” Spiritually, Judah represents the priestly tribe and Mount Zion represents God’s dwelling.
In the last days, the 144,000 Elect from Israel will serve on Mount Zion as both kings and priests. Psalm 2:6 affirms this, “I have installed my King on Zion, my holy mountain.” Yet the little horn, driven by Lucifer, will magnify itself against Christ and overthrow this sanctuary.
Daniel 8:11 says, “It magnified itself, even to the Prince of the host; it removed His daily sacrifice and overthrew the place of His sanctuary.” When the little horn takes over the host, the sanctuary—Mount Zion’s spiritual authority—gets replaced with a counterfeit system: the image of the beast.
Instead of light radiating from Zion, Lucifer will pose as the light and the messiah. He will hijack the sanctuary and turn it into a spiritual deception. This is the culmination of the abomination of desolation—the desecration of the true temple of God.
Conclusion: A Spiritual Call to Discernment
The daily sacrifice, the rebellion, the host, and the sanctuary are not random symbols. They are deeply connected realities in the spirit realm. Daniel’s prophecies are spiritually discerned, pointing us to the final battle between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of the Beast.
- The daily sacrifice symbolizes the ongoing sufferings of Christ that are manifested through His saints and true believers. These daily afflictions arise from the relentless attacks and opposition of demonic forces.
- The rebellion refers to witchcraft and the rise of spirits opposed to truth and the kingdom of God.
- The host is the vessel—human or spiritual—where spirits of the righteous gather. This gathering is consider a heavenly army.
- The sanctuary is Mount Zion, the spiritual tribe of Judah, where God rules through His Elect saints and righteous believers.
