Parables Of Jesus: The Eye Is The Lamp Of The Body

Last updated on November 9, 2021

The Eye Is The Lamp Of The Body

Jesus Christ in Matthew 6:22 gave this parable, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.”

Now here’s what the Bible tells us.

The eye represents the Spirit    (Revelation 5:6)

A lamp represents a church or congregation  (Revelation 1:20)

The body represents the members of the church  (1 Corinthians 12:27)

The parable above can be interpreted as:

In the Spirit is where the members have fellowship,  if the spirits of the members are good, then the congregation will shine as the light of the world.
