We live in an age where information is just a click away. Technology evolves so rapidly that what was once considered groundbreaking quickly becomes outdated. From artificial intelligence to space exploration, human knowledge appears to be expanding beyond imagination. Yet, despite these advancements, the world seems more confused, divided, and spiritually blind than ever before. This paradox raises a profound question: Is this the “knowledge” the Bible speaks of when it says that knowledge will increase in the last days?
The prophet Daniel foretold this very phenomenon, but his words go beyond mere technological growth. They point to a deeper, spiritual awakening—a divine knowledge that reveals the truth of God and His eternal kingdom.
The Prophecy of Daniel
Daniel 12:4 states, “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
At first glance, the world’s rapid progress in science and innovation may seem to fulfill this prophecy. We live in a time when knowledge grows exponentially, with new discoveries reshaping the world every day. But Daniel’s prophecy is not about human achievements; it is about a spiritual knowledge that will flood the earth as the end times draw near.
The Knowledge of the LORD
While the world marvels at its technological advancements, God calls us to pursue a far greater wisdom—the knowledge of Him. This knowledge cannot be gained through books, data, or machines; it comes through divine revelation and the Spirit of God.
The increase of this knowledge means that more people will come to understand the truth of God’s Word, His plan of salvation, and the mystery of Christ’s kingdom. This spiritual understanding will be the true sign that Daniel’s prophecy is being fulfilled in our generation.
God’s Holy Mountain
Isaiah confirms this truth in his prophecy: “They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:9).
God’s Holy Mountain symbolizes His eternal kingdom, where truth and peace reign. In the last days, as people turn to Christ, the knowledge of God will spread like water covering the sea, leaving no place untouched by His light and truth.
Seeing the Light of Truth
This divine knowledge becomes possible when God Himself shines His light into the hearts of those who believe. As 2 Corinthians 4:6 declares, “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
When God’s light breaks through the darkness, it not only reveals truth but transforms hearts, leading believers into a closer relationship with Him.
The Revelation of the Son of God
The Son of God is the gateway to this spiritual knowledge. Colossians 2:2 reveals, “that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and to all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, which is Christ.”
Through Jesus Christ, believers gain access to the mystery of God’s kingdom—a mystery hidden for ages but now revealed to those who seek Him.
The Love of Christ
When believers understand this mystery, they experience the fullness of Christ’s love. Paul prayed that we would know this love in Ephesians 3:14-19, saying, “Then you, being rooted and grounded in love, will have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth of the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
This is the highest form of knowledge—an intimate relationship with God that fills us with His presence and transforms every aspect of our lives.
