What is "the name above all names" that Jesus Christ inherited and was given?

Our Lord Jesus Christ has inherited and been given “the name above all names,” but what is this name exactly?

Some may suggest that “the name above all names” given to Jesus is simply the name “Jesus. “However, friends, I must tell you that this is a misunderstanding of the Holy Scriptures.

Now, let’s take a closer look at a few passages from Scripture to better understand this.

Jesus Exalted

Philippians 2:9-11 Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

According to the previous verses, Jesus was exalted to the highest place and was given the name above all names so all knees should bow in the name of Jesus.

Furthermore, the following verses reveal that Jesus inherited this name, implying that He has become the Son of God.

The Son Of God

Hebrews 1: 1-5 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father”?

Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”?

As implied by these verses, the name that Jesus inherited is the name “Son”. He has become the Son of God.
