We’re living in a time when spiritual struggles are becoming more visible in everyday life. It’s no longer just about what’s happening on the outside—it’s showing up in your thoughts, your emotions, and deep within your soul. Demonic spirits that were once felt hidden are now becoming more visible, and you can sense it in ways that are harder to ignore.
This isn’t something that is hard to understand—it’s happening inside you. It’s a spiritual reality all people has to deal with whether you are aware of it or not. There are demonic spirits working through thoughts and inner voices that try to shape how you think, how you feel, and even the choices you make. And those choices don’t just affect you—they also affect the people around you.
This isn’t meant to scare you—it’s about being aware. Because if you don’t understand how these demonic spirits work, they could already be influencing you without you even realizing it.
The Bible makes it clear that our struggle isn’t ultimately against other people. It goes deeper than that—it involves spiritual forces that cannot be seen with physical eyes, yet they exist and influence thoughts, emotions, and actions. As it says in Ephesians 6:12:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
What this reveals is a real and ongoing struggle beyond what we can see—whether we’re aware of it or not. You may not see it directly, but you can sense its effects in people and in your surroundings. It touches personal lives, influences communities, and even shapes what unfolds across the world.
These spiritual forces of darkness have been at work secretly for a long time. Spiritual pressure, confusion, and hardship continue to weigh on people’s lives—and that weight doesn’t remain constant. It builds. It intensifies. And for many, it becomes overwhelming, especially when trying to walk in the light of Christ. The truth is, no one is meant to carry that kind of burden alone. Whether people recognize it or not, the spiritual condition of the world has grown increasingly dark.
That’s why the Bible says in 1 John 5:19:
“…the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.”
This dark spiritual condition creates an environment that many experience as heavy and difficult to endure. It fosters confusion, fear, and a sense of spiritual bondage. And when people remain unaware, those patterns can repeat—affecting individuals, families, communities, and even nations across generations.
Spiritual Reality
The Lord Jesus Christ gave us insight into what’s happening with people. According to Him, unclean or demonic spirits seek influence—and this is a major part of the spiritual reality humanity faces today.
In Luke 11:24–26, He explains:
“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first.”
This reveals something important. It shows that demonic spirits are described as moving in and out of people, seeking a body to inhabit or possess. Yet most people don’t realize this is happening. Many are unaware—they are what the Bible describes as being “blind” or “asleep.” Without God’s protection, people are left vulnerable to these influences.
That’s why I’m starting this blog series—to help people understand what’s really going on in the spiritual realm and how to stand strong against the constant pressure of darkness, with the help of God and His Son, as revealed in His Word. God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, over 2,000 years ago to bring people out of this condition.
As it says in John 12:46:
“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.”
Coming out of darkness and into the light is a lifelong journey. It’s a process of moving step by step—from deep darkness toward greater and greater light. Wherever you are in your spiritual condition, the Word of God speaks to it. It helps you understand what you’re going through and shows you how to respond and move forward.
Types of Spiritual Conditions
There are four types of spiritual conditions that a person can fall into.
- The Sleepers: These are people who are not aware of the spiritual realm. They are often seen as “babies,” “innocent,” or “perfect.” Demonic spirits see them as easy prey because they consider them “stupid”. This is the state everyone begins in.
- The Blind: These are people who have encountered the spiritual realm and believe they are “awake” and walking in the light—but they are actually still blind. What they are experiencing is not light, but darkness, and they don’t realize it. Because they don’t understand what’s happening, they can become trapped and led by demonic spirits. Sadly, even many who believe in the Lord Jesus can fall into this condition.
- The Awakened: These are the ones who understand the Spirit. They know the truth and choose to live by it. They are the chosen and the faithful. They walk in the light and are on their way to Mount Zion—the kingdom of God.
- The Rebellious: These are the ones who understand the Spirit but choose to reject the truth. Because of that, darkness takes hold and overcomes them.
Regardless of your spiritual condition, God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus, to help people understand the truth and be saved from the snares of darkness.
Through the prophet Isaiah, God spoke about Jesus, saying:
Isaiah 42:6 “I, the LORD, have called you for a righteous purpose, and I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and appoint you to be a covenant for the people and a light to the nations, 7 to open the eyes of the blind, to bring prisoners out of the dungeon and those sitting in darkness out from the prison house.”
Apostle Paul also admonished in Romans 13:11
“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.”
And again in Ephesians 5:14
So it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
In the next few posts, I’ll go deeper into each spiritual condition—how to recognize where you are spiritually and what the Word of God says about it. So stay with me through this series, and take a moment to reflect on where you stand. If this speaks to you, share it with someone who needs it and follow along for the next post.
Until next time my friend, may God bless you. Let your light shine!
