Who Are The Elect?

Last updated on February 23, 2024

Who are the Elect in the Bible? And how do I know if I am an elect? You might ask.

Well, God’s elect are many things in the grand scheme of God’s plan.

Romans 8:33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s electIt is God who justifies.

Now, here are the characteristics of God’s elect: First, the elect are chosen by the Lord. Secondly, they are kings and priests. Moreover, they are also thought of as angels in the spirit realm. We also consider them as our saints, the holy ones of Israel.

Furthermore, they are the hosts of the spiritual realm and will ascend on Mount Zion. They are sons of God and are considered to be the spiritual tribe of Judah.

And finally, they represent the blood of Christ.

So if you understand and match the characteristics of the elect as mentioned above, then you are one.

But do not be dismayed, dear brethren, if you do not seem to meet this criterion of the elect. As believers of God and of Christ, we are also chosen children of God. We belong to the spiritual tribe of Israel. Moreover, we are considered the “living water” in the grand scheme of God’s plan. We are “elect” also but only together with the saints.

Colossians 1:12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

The Saints

The elect of God are our saints and we are supposed to help them out. Ministering to the saints and to each other is what God has prepared for us to do as a way of life. In this way, God’s kingdom can manifest here on earth.

Hebrew 6:10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Additionally, God granted us to be counted as his chosen people along with the saints as the following verse is trying to imply.

Ephesians 2:19 Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household…

The Sons Of God

Now, the elect are the sons of God.

Moreover, we also as believers, who have the firstfruits of the spirit, are considered sons of God with them.

Romans 8:23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.

Moreover, the sons of God are what Jesus Christ considers as brothers.

Matthew 25:40 And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’

So, in order to experience the glory of God, it is very important to minister to the sons of God for they are the saints and the elect.

Romans 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us. 19The creation waits in eager expectation for the revelation of the sons of God.

The Elect Angels

Furthermore, the elect are thought of as angels in the spirit realm.

1 Timothy 5:21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels…..

So, when the elect’s physical bodies die, they are raised in the heavenly realm and turn into the likeness of angels.

Matthew 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Mount Zion

Moreover, we are told that the salvation of Israel will come out of Zion.

Romans 11:26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;

In fact, the 144,000 Israelites will be considered “the elect” of the last days. They will ascend on Mount Zion and will help in establishing the kingdom of God.

Revelation 14:1 Then I looked and saw the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000 who had His name and His Father’s name written on their foreheads.

Additionally, the 144,000 elect are the deliverers prophesied by the Prophet Obadiah in the following verse.

Obadiah 1:21 Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion to govern the mountains of Esau. And the kingdom will be the LORD’s.

Furthermore, The 144,000 elect of the last days will be considered the sprinkled blood of Christ on Mount Zion

Hebrews 12:24 to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

Kings and Priests

Moreover, the elect will be priests on Zion.

1 Peter 2:5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Additionally, they will also be kings and they will rule in the kingdom of God.

Psalm 2:6 I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.

Last Days

Now, during the great tribulations, God will save all mankind through the elect.

Mark 13:20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

Hence, the elect are often mistreated because they hang on to the son of God and to their testimony. They are the subject of demonic oppression and persecution. But God is close to them because his spirit is on them. He will come and rescue the elect and ultimately all of Israel from their troubles.

Luke 18:7 Will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He continue to defer their help?

Conclusion

In conclusion, the elect of God are God’s chosen people.

The elect are the saints and the sons of God. Additionally, they are kings and priests on Mount Zion. They are considered the blood of Christ and are the hosts of the heavenly realm.

As believers, we are supposed to help minister to them. This is how we wash our robes in the blood of the lamb. This is how we take part in the inheritance of the saints and share in their glory.

Well, this is it for now brethren. I will end this blog with the following verse. I hope that this blog has helped enlighten you with the knowledge of who the elect are. Until next time my friends, may God bless you all!

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
