According to the Book of Revelation, the False Prophet—also called the Little Horn and the Beast from the earth—will perform great signs in the presence of the Beast from the sea.
Fire From Heaven
Revelation 13:13 – “He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men”.
But what exactly is this “fire” that the False Prophet will cause to come down from heaven?
Some interpret this literally, believing the False Prophet will call down real fire from the sky—others even suggest it could refer to a nuclear event. But are these interpretations correct, or is there a deeper, more symbolic meaning behind the prophecy?
Because this ministry focuses on spiritual understanding, we will explore this prophecy through a spiritual lens.
Now, let’s look at the symbolism of “fire” in this verse.
Messengers As Flames Of Fire
Psalm 104:4 says, “He makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire.” The word ministers refers to God’s servants—both angels and human messengers, such as prophets or anyone called to serve Him. However, the key phrase here is “flame of fire,” as it helps us understand the prophecy about the false prophet, who will perform great signs and cause “fire” to “come down” from heaven to earth.
The phrase “flame of fire” represents God’s messengers being filled with His power and passion, enabling them to boldly proclaim His word. In the end times, these “flames of fire” are directly connected to the signs performed by the false prophet—especially the “fire” he calls down from heaven before the Beast.
Moreover, this “fire” symbolizes God’s chosen people—the saints—who will shine like flames of fire as they declare God’s Kingdom during the Beast’s reign. They will serve as powerful witnesses, even in the face of intense opposition. As believers, we understand that the Beast along with the False Prophet will rise as persecuting powers, seeking to overcome and oppress the saints—the elect of the end times.
Revelation 13:13 – “He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men”.
Persecution of the Saints
Therefore, the true meaning behind this prophetic verse centers on the persecution of the saints by the Beast. These saints, who will be dwelling in the spiritual realm of Mount Zion—the heavenly Jerusalem—will eventually be brought low, oppressed, humiliated, and killed by the Beast with the aid of the False Prophet.
Parallel Prophecy
This event is also reflected in a parallel prophecy found in the Book of Daniel:
Daniel 8:10 – “It grew until it reached the host of the heavens, and it threw some of the starry host down to the earth and trampled on them.”
Starry Host On Mount Zion
In this verse, the “host of the heavens” symbolizes the elect saints who bear witness to Mount Zion —The Kingdom of God. These saints operate in the spiritual realm, but the False Prophet—also identified as the Little Horn—will gain access to this same realm, enabling them and the Beast to also become spiritual “hosts.” This will lead to a spiritual rivalry for dominion in the heavenly or spiritual realm.
To challenge the position of the saints in the spiritual realm, the Beast and the False Prophet will introduce a technology symbolically referred to as “earthen ramps.” Through this means, they will cast down some of the “starry host”—the saints—from their heavenly position and trample them underfoot. This event is the same exact prophecy in Revelation 13:13 where the False Prophet performed “great signs” and caused “fire” to come down from heaven to earth — another symbolism for the persecution and the taken down of the elect saints in the end times.
Therefore these prophecies we are discussing here are pointing to the same event, the persecution and the taken down of the elect saints.
The First Resurrection
Although this isn’t the main focus of this post, I don’t want to leave you with a heavy heart. The prophecy doesn’t end in sorrow—God promises to intervene. Take comfort in this: after the saints have been persecuted and killed by the Beast and the False Prophet, they will be raised to life in the first resurrection. God will not forget His elect.
Revelation 11:12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, ‘Come up here.’ And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.“
Conclusion
In conclusion, my friends, the “fire” that the False Prophet brings down from heaven to earth symbolizes the elect saints of the end times. This is not a literal fire, as some interpretations suggest, but rather a prophetic image pointing to the chosen elect saints and their eventual persecution and fall after which they will be resurrected by God during the first resurrection.
There is still so much more to explore about this prophecy. In the coming posts, I’ll delve deeper into various aspects of the Beast and the False Prophet, especially how they connect to God’s people in these end times. Each piece will be linked together to help you see the full picture. For now, I’ll bring this post to a close. I pray it has brought you insight and understanding. May God bless you—and let your light shine!
