Who are the Israelites? The Israelites are the chosen people of God. Most people dont realize that the bible is all about the chosen people of God. Jesus Christ was sent by God to save the lost sheep of Israel. Jesus said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” (Matthew 15:23)
So just where are the Isrelites now? Most people will probably say that the Israelites today are the Jews who now live in the State of Israel. But this is only true in part. The bible tells us that the Israelites will be scattered among the nations and their number will be like the sand of the seashore.(Hosea 1:10)
The Jews who now live in the land of Israel mostly are remnants of the tribe of Judah. God has made a separate covenant with the The house of Judah because God was pleased with King David. Jesus Christ came from the line of King David.
Simeon has declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written: (Acts 15:14-15)
You might ask, where do I fit in all this? Since, I am not an Israelites or I don’t consider myself as an Israelite. Well you can thank God for his grace for the covenant that he made with Jesus Christ. Anyone who believe in Jesus Christ has become a child of God. Before Jesus Christ only Israelites by bloodline can inherit the covenant. But with Jesus Christ, he has made us into Israelites.
“Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.” (Ephesians 2:12)
With the house of Israel on the other hand, God was not pleased. As a result, God scattered the house of Israel in all nations. But this is part of God’s grand plan to show his glory though his people.
“I, Yahweh, have called You in righteousness, and will hold Your hand; I will keep you and give you as a covenant to the people, as a light to the gentiles.” –Isaiah 42:6
I will expand on this topic later. Please come back!
